Multi Skilled Operative

Reporting directly to the Section Manager, the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative will include the day to day operations of either fixed or mobile plant. The quarry operator will work with an internal team to plan the mixing program, ensuring stocks are maintained and replenished in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Work with other team members to ensure customers receive high quality material and on time deliveries.
• Operate mobile plant, including rigid and articulated dump trucks and loading shovel.
• Assist the Supervisor in meeting daily and weekly production targets.
• Ensure plant conforms to safety requirements at all times.
• Execute health, safety, environmental and quality responsibilities.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Inspect plant, address defects, and implement remedial actions.
• Assist in the maintenance regime of the plant.
• Maximize plant availability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in an industrial, factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer.
• Good communication skills and a strong desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of plant and preferably prior experience in quarry or mobile plant operations.
• Shovel and dump truck licence (desirable).
• Flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi Skilled Operative team.
• Self motivated and capable of motivating other colleagues.
• Good timekeeping and flexible to unit requirements.
• Ability to bring problems to the attention of line management.
• Full UK driving licence.
• IT literate.
• Previous experience as a Multi Skilled Operative in a quarry is highly beneficial, but training will be provided to the right candidate.

Location and Commute

The role is located at Tarmac Stancombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Flax Bourton, Bristol. It is commutable from Weston super Mare, Bristol, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester and surrounding areas.
