Job Description
Overview

A personal assistant is required to support a 10 year old boy with autism and ADHD. The role involves providing supervision, encouraging participation in activities, and ensuring the child's safety.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the child's safety at all times.
  • Supervise and encourage participation in swimming lessons, cinema trips, nature walks, and other outings.
  • Support the child to develop social skills and emotional regulation, applying appropriate behaviour management techniques.
  • Plan and prepare for trips and outings, ensuring readiness and arranging travel.
  • Escort the child to and from appointments and support the family as needed.
  • Provide supervision and support at home, enabling family respite.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and patient with a calm demeanor.
  • Full commitment to the role of personal assistant; not suitable for short term or stop gap roles.
  • Flexible to work outside school hours and with changes during half terms.
  • Proactive in helping the child achieve goals and plan journeys.
  • Ability to prioritize safety.
  • Experience with neurodiversity, either professionally or personally.
  • Full UK driving licence, own vehicle, and valid business insurance.
  • Will undergo a DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
Hours of Work

Term time: 6.5 hours per week - Monday 1.5 hrs, Tuesday 2.0 hrs, Thursday 3.0 hrs. Half term: 13 hours per week - Monday 5 hrs, Thursday 3 hrs, Friday 5 hrs. Flexibility may be required during half terms.

Rate of Pay

£14.00 per hour plus £0.40 per mile.

Other Information

Employment will commence after satisfactory references, a DBS disclosure, and verification of the legal right to work in the UK. The cost of the DBS check will be covered by the Local Authority. Wages are paid monthly with holiday pay, and a National Insurance number is required.
