Automotive MOT Tester & Technician - Up to £40,000 + Great Benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday • 08:00am - 05:00pm Salary: Up to £40,000 per year

Are you an experienced MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician who enjoys delivering high quality workmanship and excellent customer experience? We're recruiting for a busy, well-regarded local garage offering main-dealer quality servicing and MOT work - with the flexibility, friendly culture and variety that only an independent workshop can offer.

Why This Role Is Great
  • Up to £40,000 per year - secure, stable salary
  • Monday to Friday - NO Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays
  • 22 days holiday + additional days off between Christmas and New Year (extra 3-4 days)
  • Supportive, skilled team environment
  • Work with a wide range of vehicles from everyday cars to premium marques
  • Easy online job booking and customer interface
  • Strong workshop reputation and excellent customer service focus
  • Opportunity to be part of quality-driven servicing and MOT work

This role is perfect for someone who prides themselves on accuracy, technical ability and professional standards - not just who can process a test.

About the Business & Workshop Culture

Based in a trusted local workshop with a long history of serving drivers in the Hedge End and Southampton area, the business offers:

  • Competitive pricing for servicing and MOTs, helping customers save compared with main dealer costs
  • Genuine quality-focused work using OE quality parts with warranty compliance
  • All makes of cars and vans welcomed - not limited to specific brands
  • Skilled manufacturer-trained technicians providing quality workmanship and strong diagnostic support
  • A high level of customer satisfaction and strong online reputation in the local community
What You'll Do - MOT Tester & Technician

As part of our team, you will:

  • Perform Class IV car MOT tests to DVSA standards
  • Conduct thorough pre-MOT inspections and detailed vehicle checks
  • Diagnose faults accurately and communicate issues clearly
  • Carry out mechanical repairs and adjustments required prior to MOT certification
  • Record and report inspection results thoroughly and professionally
  • Support vehicle servicing and maintenance tasks alongside MOT work
  • Engage with customers and provide a friendly, solution-orientated experience

This role delivers a strong mix of MOT testing and mechanical work, giving you variety and progression in your day-to-day duties.

Who We're Looking For

We want someone who:

  • Holds an MOT Licence
  • Has proven workshop or MOT experience
  • Can perform detailed inspections and fault diagnosis
  • Is customer focused, dependable and quality-driven
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Has a professional workshop mindset and high standards

Bonus if you also have experience with vehicle servicing and maintenance beyond MOT testing - this role rewards versatility!
