Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is an inclusive and dedicated organisation committed to providing outstanding care to our entitled personnel and their families. We are looking for a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic GP to join our well-resourced Primary Health Care Team.
This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Ministry of Defence GP, covering a gapped military post. The role begins upon appointment and ends on 8 November 2028, with arrangements made in line with MOD Fixed-term Appointment policy.
This full-time role (37 hrs per week) is based at the Medical Centre, RAF Marham, Kings Lynn, PE33 9NP, part of the Valiant Combined Practice with RAF Honington. There may be occasional requirements to provide cover at RAF Honington. Part-time candidates will be considered, but due to service delivery requirements, this must be on a job-share basis to ensure full-time coverage.
Your responsibilities will include primary care sessions, occupational medicals, and protected time for administrative tasks, meetings, and professional development. This role offers a supportive environment with the resources and time to focus on both patient care and your own well-being.

Main duties of the job We offer the following benefits:
The position involves delivery of both acute and scheduled primary care to a diverse mix of military and civilian patients, with 15 minute appointments covering all aspects of the GP curriculum to include paediatrics, ante-natal care, mental health as well as chronic disease management. We operate a team-based Total Triage for all on the day cases.
Being part of a fully cohesive Primary Care Team of Doctors, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, Pharmacy Technicians, Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors, Health Care Assistants as well as Practice Management and RAF Medical Assistants.
We benefit from an in-house dispensary and have access to exemplar community mental health and rehabilitation teams, where we have the resources to maximise patient recovery potential.
Everyone is encouraged to undertake funded continuous professional development, with opportunities to gain certification in occupational, aviation as well as sports and exercise medicine.

Job responsibilities Duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Attending regular multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure continuous quality improvement, with regular healthcare governance activities aimed at keeping optimal patient care at the focus of everything we do. Doctors meet daily to discuss clinical cases.
- Providing general healthcare to all registered patients during normal practice hours.
- Undertaking mandatory medical examinations and provide appropriate occupational healthcare and advice, and all supporting administrative duties.
- Providing primary care emergency treatment to any patient who may require this within the Establishment.
- Appropriately supervising the management of communicable diseases, including monitoring and reporting through single Service chains.
- Representing the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) on Medical Practice related issues where necessary, including participation in unit health committees where appropriate.
