Maternity Services are provided over 3 sites and we are able to offer women and staff the 4 birthing environment, home, freestanding birth centre, alongside birth centre and obstetric labour ward.
The environment in the Prince Charles Site level 2 has undergone major refurbishment in 2019. We offer care to women in our obstetric unit and we have an alongside midwifery led unit. We have increased the number of pools to 3 and are able to offer in addition a bereavement room and generally an enhanced environment for both women and staff.
Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend is a Level 2 Maternity Unit. We are able to offer low risk women the opportunity to labour and birth in our alongside Midwifery Led room, the Bluebell Suite and in our newly refurbished Birthing Pool room on the obstetric unit. Our Obstetric services support women requiring increased surveillance during labour.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave. If you are interested in applying for it as a secondment, please obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short list ing and selecting candidates. This isn't "fluency", just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Job responsibilitiesThe Health Board currently operates a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30 minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
Person Specification Registration- UK NMC Registered
- Ability to undertake perineal suturing
- Ability to undertake IV cannulation
- Previous experience in Obstetric unit
- Welsh language skills Speaking/Listening Level 3 or above
