In This Role: You will receive, prepare, and process veterinary samples (primarily swabs, urine, and faeces) for laboratory analysis and testing. You will be involved in the analysis and evaluation of chemical components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques. You will culture faecal samples and prepare them for parasitology, utilising faecal flotation and ELISA methods. You will process swabs for incubation, using automated and manual methods. You will process bacterial isolates for identification and susceptibility testing. You will assist with stock control and recording of information for audit purposes. You will have a workload which often includes samples from livestock and exotic species through regular zoo screening. From day one, you'll have full autonomy in your work, but you'll also get full support when you need it. What You Need to Succeed: Bachelors' degree in Biomedical Sciences/Microbiology or equivalent combination of education and experience required. A first successful experience in a similar position is desired. Ideally you will have some good knowledge or practical experience in Urinalysis, Parasitology and/or Microbiology. You are very comfortable with performing automated instrumentation or manual methods. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment. You are able to read, understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. You have a positive attitude and love to bring this energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues, whether working independently or as a team contributor. You are able to prioritize and multi-task, demonstrated excellent attention to detailon the job and can work reliably and precisely Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, colour, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Schedule: The hours for this position are: Friday, Saturday, Monday. 22,5h/week With a flexible start between 06:00 and 08:00 depending on business needs until 14:30 or 16:30 Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
