Job Description

We are looking for a committed, creative Membership Development Manager who exemplifies our three core principles: Connect, Collaborate and Change, to join our small but mighty team, leading membership development and driving our new strategy.

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 FTE

Closing date: 26 September 2026

Location: Barking & Dagenham Hours: 4-day week

Do you want to make a difference and create real impact in the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise space?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about communication, about building and maintaining relationships, and about listening rather than telling. You'll have a highly collaborative working style, and be excited to be part of a small team. You'll care deeply about the impact your work has, and will have a strong commitment to improving the world around you. You'll be used to thinking outside the box to find solutions, and to challenging existing structures.

If you're passionate about building stronger communities through connecting and collaborating to achieve systemic change, this role is for you.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong commitment to the principles of BD Collective
  • Has the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels
  • Is skilled at using monitoring and evaluation to evidence impact
  • Curious and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Is proactive and able to take the initiative

You'll be working in a small, dedicated team, leading on our membership development and the implementation of our new strategy. You'll gain experience in building a community-focused, member-driven local infrastructure organisation with big ambitions. You'll have the chance to make a real difference in one of the country's most deprived boroughs, supporting the people and organisations who help to hold it together.

We especially welcome applicants from Barking & Dagenham and Global Majority backgrounds.

Apply now by sending your CV and a cover letter (no more that 2 sides of A4) telling us:

  • What excites you about this role?
  • Why do you think this role is important?
  • What makes you the right person for this role?

We welcome applications from all candidates and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to support you. If you require any reasonable adjustments please contact us.
