Job Description

Huntcliff Surgery is looking for a Part Time Receptionist (22.5 hours per week) to join our friendly, motivated administrative team. We are seeking someone who is reliable, compassionate and calm under pressure, with excellent telephone and face to face communication skills.

We are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and flexibility is essential as you will be required to work between these hours to meet service needs.

Previous reception experience is helpful but not essential as full training will be provided. You'll also receive training in EMIS Web, our clinical system.

The role is busy, varied and central to the experience our patients receive - we are looking for someone who thrives in a people focused, fast paced environment.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties to support the clinical and non clinical teams. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting and directing patients sensitively in person and over the telephone.
  • Using the appointment system effectively, including booking, amending and managing appointments.
  • Supporting patients to access online services and navigating common queries.
  • Processing information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team.
  • Acting as a central point of contact for patients, internal teams and external partner services.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

You must be flexible to work outside of core office hours when necessary and be prepared to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Job responsibilities

Job summary

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients face to face or via telephone, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Applicants must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and have experience of working with the general public. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills (written and oral), strong IT skills, effective time management (planning and organising), ability to work as a team member and autonomously.

Must be flexible to work outside of core office hours and be prepared to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS).

Experience

Experience of working with the general public

Experience of working in primary care. Experience of working in a GP practice. Experience of administrative duties.

Qualifications

Applicants must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.

GCSE Mathematics or English at Grade C or above, AMSPAR Receptionist qualification, NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
