Medical Receptionist

PoundHill Medical Group is looking for two caring, organised, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Reception Team.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in ensuring they receive a positive, supportive, and efficient experience when accessing our services. Whether speaking to patients on the telephone, welcoming them into the practice, or helping them navigate appointments and prescriptions, you will be making a real difference to people's lives every day.
Previous GP surgery experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with strong customer service, reception, administration, hospitality, retail, or office based experience, as full training will be provided.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work across our Pound Hill and Copthorne sites, supporting patients and colleagues while helping to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
Main duties of the job- Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and amendments
- Answering incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
- Assisting patients with prescription requests and prescription queries
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
- Providing administrative support to clinicians and the wider practice team
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate services and resources
- Supporting the day to day operation of the reception service
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver outstanding patient care
- GCSE or equivalent: Maths
- Experience in working in a customer service role
- Calm under pressure
- Experience of working in primary care or a GP practice
