Medical Receptionist

We are seeking a friendly, organised and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive GP practice team. This is a patient-facing role at the heart of our practice, providing high-quality reception and administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of services.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a calm and professional manner, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job- Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Managing incoming telephone calls and online queries
- Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using the clinical system
- Processing prescription requests in line with practice protocols
- Handling patient information confidentially and in accordance with GDPR
- Scanning, filing and maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with clinicians and the wider practice team
- Supporting administrative tasks to ensure efficient practice operations.
Lane End Surgery is a friendly and well-established GP practice serving approximately 9300 patients in Newcastle upon Tyne. We provide ourselves on delivering high-quality patient care in a supportive and inclusive working environment.

WORKING PATTERN
This role is for a fixed working pattern, working 19 hours per week. Please only apply if you are able to commit to the specific days and times below:
Thursday: 08:00 - 18:00
Friday: 08:00 - 18:00
Person Specification Experience- - Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role
- - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- - Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems
- - Ability to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
- - Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- - Previous experience working in a GP practice or NHS setting
- - Knowledge of SystmOne
- - Understanding of medical terminology
