Ash Surgery is looking for a bright, friendly, self motivated, responsible and reliable individual to join the reception team in this friendly and supportive practice.
We are currently seeking at least one part-time candidate to join our reception team. There will be opportunity for extra hours and personal development and progression within the surgery.
We are offering Monday - Friday AM shift - to support the existing team.
Main duties of the jobThe following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist.
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Provide support to the clinical team
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
- Complete opening and closing procedures
- As required support the prescribing clerk in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
Ash Surgery is a traditional GP Practice, set in the heart of rural East Kent, close to the city of Canterbury.
Our administration team work very closely with the clinical team to support each other and deliver the very best in patient care.
Job responsibilitiesThe following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Read code data on EMIS web
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
- Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
- As required support the prescribing clerk in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
- Ordering and monitoring of stationery supplies
- GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths desirable.
- Experience of Primary care not essential as full training will be provided.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
