Medical Receptionist

We are currently seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team at Redlam Surgery. The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who is able to work as part of a team.
Receptionist and NHS experience is helpful, but a positive attitude, smart appearance, and approachable manner is essential.
Working hours: 25 hours per week. The working days will be Monday 8am 1.30pm, Tuesday 07.45am 6.30pm, Wednesday 07.45 6.30pm. Flexibility is a must to cover holidays and sickness.
Job responsibilities- Admin: Thorough knowledge of all practice procedures, work according to written protocols, pull/filing notes for surgeries and update as necessary, file posts in medical records if necessary, fax and photocopy as requested.
- Reception: Receive and direct patients, consult with team, hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and check names and addresses, cover all reception positions as necessary.
- Appointments: Process appointment requests for today and future appointments by telephone and in person, deal with visit requests.
- Computer: Registration of new patients, data entry and medical records, process patient change of address, process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Telephone: Working knowledge of the telephone system during and after hours.
- Other tasks: Stock GP rooms, ensure building security (knowledge of doors, windows and alarm), make tea/coffee for doctors and visitors.
Confidentiality: The post-holder will maintain strict confidentiality of patient, staff and practice information, in accordance with policy and procedures.
Health and Safety: Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety policy, manual and infection control procedures. This includes using personal security systems, identifying risks, attending mandatory training, maintaining tidy and safe work areas and reporting hazards immediately.

Personal / Professional Development: Participate in annual performance reviews, take responsibility for own development, learning and performance, and contribute skills and activities to the team.
Quality: Maintain high quality within the practice by alerting team members to quality issues, assessing own performance, and working effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient needs.
Communication: Recognise the importance of effective communication with the team, patients and carers, and respond to needs for alternative communication methods.
Qualifications- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Experience working in the NHS is desirable.
