Job Description
Medical Director - One of the UK's Leading Fertility Clinics - Based in Nottingham - Up to £180,000

We are looking for a driven, dynamic, and hands on Medical Director and Person Responsible who will lead the clinic alongside the General Manager and the clinic leadership team to new and exciting levels to become a leading clinic in the UK and Europe. The Medical Director is responsible for delivering and maintaining the highest standard of clinical and patient care within the clinic, alongside supporting its commercial success. The role holder will be responsible for managing this key partnership that creates impact for our business, our patients and the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical: To be skilled at initial consultations, review consultations, egg collections, embryo transfers, IUIs, trans vaginal ultrasound scanning
  • Clinical: Management and participation in an on call and weekend rota for out of hours queries and procedures
  • Clinical: To be skilled in saline sonography / hycosy / endometrial biopsy procedures
  • Clinical: To be currently trained in Advanced Life Support
  • Clinical: To work with the Patient Support Management team to ensure clinical rotas and job planning fulfil clinic/patient needs and requirements to deliver exceptional patient care
  • Management: To actively lead, manage and develop the clinical team
  • Management: To take ownership on all aspects of performance management with team members, To work closely with rest of the clinic leadership team, and support a culture of collaborative working
  • Management: To support the General Manager in maintaining a flat organisation and actively encourage engagement from all team members
  • Planning and organising: To work closely with the General Manager, actively participate in strategy development and decisions about resource allocation and organisational development.
  • Planning and organising: To oversee and coordinate patient throughput between the clinic and any satellite services.
  • Planning and organising: To be actively involved with NHS ICB contracts, tenders and review meetings where necessary
  • Planning and organising: To manage the clinical area resources, including staff, with a view to achieving the clinic's objectives, and to ensure cost effective work practices
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To support the General Manager in the management of the clinic
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To identify future medical talent for potential recruitment
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To work with the Country Medical Lead in order to implement best clinical practice into the clinic
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To assist and support patient management and service delivery by providing advice from the clinical and clinic perspective.
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To develop and maintain systems and processes which ensure that the patients' experience of the clinic exceeds expectations. This involves the patients' sense of care, control, value and cost amongst others
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To manage situations in the clinic not covered by standard operating procedures.
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To contribute to the holistic approach to patient care that the clinic endeavours to provide.
  • Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support: To take part in the rota of duties and to ensure cover in the clinical area.
  • Analysis and reporting: To generate statistics for performance monitoring and report them as appropriate.
  • Analysis and reporting: To regularly assess available statistics and clinical information in order to identify opportunities to improve the clinical services of the clinic.
  • Analysis and reporting: To devise action plans based on the analysis of data
  • Analysis and reporting: To attend Medical Director and KPI meetings Person Responsible
  • Analysis and reporting: To take overall responsibility for ensuring the clinic and it's staff comply with the HFE Act.
  • Analysis and reporting: Oversee clinic activities, ensuring staff have an appropriate level of training to fulfil their roles and ensuring they comply with HFEA clinic inspections.
  • Analysis and reporting: To take responsibility for submitting paperwork, fees and data to the HFEA in a timely manner.
  • Analysis and reporting: Demonstrate clear leadership in objective decision making
  • Analysis and reporting: Demonstrate clear understanding and knowledge of HFEA Code of Practice
  • Essential education and qualifications: Medical degree
  • Essential education and qualifications: GMC registration
  • Essential education and qualifications: Subspecialty trained
  • Essential education and qualifications: Extensive clinical experience (minimum 5 years) in a large Fertility unit
  • Essential education and qualifications: Strong working knowledge of the HFEA Code of Practice
  • Essential education and qualifications: Understanding of the biology and scientific evidence behind clinical practice
  • Experience and knowledge: In-depth understanding of IVF treatment complexities and patient pathways
  • Experience and knowledge: Well networked within the UK Fertility sector
  • Experience and knowledge: Strong experience in large IVF clinics with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience and knowledge: Ability to apply quality assurance and clinical performance monitoring
  • Skills and abilities: Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with sound decision making
  • Skills and abilities: Clear communicator, able to explain complex concepts across all business levels
