We are currently looking to recruit a part-time/ full-time medical receptionist/ administrator to join our team. This post will be based across 2 sites; Middle Chare Surgery based in Chester Le Street and Woodlands Surgery in Rickleton. Exact details on hours and days to be discussed. The successful candidate will be patient focused, a good team player and flexible in their approach.
Main duties of the jobBeing adaptable, working well as a team and providing a positive experience are essential for the role of Admin/ Receptionist. Your role will be to deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and makenew and follow-up appointments, action medication queries, repeat prescriptions, onlinerepeat prescription requests in a prompt manner. You will be expected to communicate effectively with patients, medical professionals, hospitals and any other 3rd party providers. You will be responsible for using care navigation to signpost patients to the most appropriate service so they are seen in the quickest most efficient way.

Job responsibilitiesYou will be responsible for administrative functions, including but not limited to:
- Reception duties providing a positive patient experience, information, advice and signposting
- Telephone receive and make telephone calls and respond to voicemails as required
- Handling clinical specimens ensuring correct details and appropriate handover
- Appointments use GP systems to book, manage and cancel appointments
- Patient record management record all patient contacts and ensure timely and accurate data entry
- Ensure escalation of issues or urgent clinical cases to the appropriate person
- Patient administration and filing support patients with paperwork, registration and record management
- Results use of clinical systems to respond to patient result requests
- Printing, scanning and photocopying ensuring information is uploaded to records
- Workflow processing letters and ensuring continuity of care
- Patient tasks and emails/E-consults
- Prescriptions including repeat prescriptions
- Handle sensitive and confidential information
- Recognise and report issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
- AMSPAR Receptionists Qualification
- Experince of working with in GP Surgery is preferable
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
