Salary Range: $17.36 to $21.71 hourly

Job Summary

As a member of the health division of the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation, Sacred Circle Healthcare seeks a full time Medical Administrative Assistant & Interpreter to support clinic operations and provide interpreter services in patient visits, pharmacy consultations, and telephone encounters. The role serves as an essential link between providers and patients, maintaining smooth clinic operations and ensuring quality patient care.

Overview

The administrative medical assistant is responsible for maintaining administrative and clerical tasks for providers and other medical staff, ensuring the office runs smoothly, and acting as a liaison between providers and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide interpreter services as requested by medical staff.
  • Interpret medical and everyday terminology accurately and in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Assist with translating medical documents, forms, and patient education materials.
  • Guide patients with initial paperwork.
  • Conduct interviews with patients to gather medical history and conditions.
  • File health care documents appropriately in patient records (e.g., immunizations).
  • Update and maintain patient health records.
  • Answer patient queries and ensure quality customer service.
  • Collaborate with providers and nurses to assist with medical examinations and schedule tests.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and health care providers in both verbal and written form.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Attendance at an accredited medical assisting program is preferred.

Experience

One (1) or more years of hands on patient care (e.g., MA, CNA, scribe) and one (1) or more years of administrative experience.

Certification / Licensing
  • Certification as a Medical Interpreter (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI)
  • CPR Certification
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate (preferred)
Other Requirements
  • Spanish speaker
  • Experience working with the Native American community (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical coding.
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, decision making, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic medical records.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to follow clinic protocols and perform administrative functions.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
