Job Description
Location: Cork, Ireland Employment Type: Full-time About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join its Energy and Industry team in Whitegate, Cork. The successful candidate will provide technical and project-management expertise throughout both the tender-development and project-delivery stages. The role will initially involve tender-stage technical input before transitioning into project execution, including the construction, commissioning, turnover and handover of mechanical systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex projects across the energy, pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centre and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate project activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and successfully. Manage engineers, supervisors, site teams, contractors and subcontractors to achieve project objectives. Develop and maintain project programmes, monitor milestones and implement corrective actions where required. Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover and final handover activities. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality and contractual requirements. Review and approve work packs, method statements, risk assessments and technical documentation. Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, resource allocation and change-control processes. Identify and mitigate project risks, technical issues and potential delays. Prepare work-package pricing documentation and agree commercial terms with clients before commencement. Chair project meetings and provide regular progress reports to clients, stakeholders and senior management. Manage labour, materials, plant and equipment to support productivity and programme requirements. Build strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors and operational teams. Ensure project records, reports and handover documentation are completed accurately and on time. Support project close-out, lessons-learned reviews and the transition of completed systems to operations. Promote continuous improvement and best practices throughout the project team. Qualifications and Experience Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of eight years relevant experience in mechanical engineering or project management. Previous experience within energy, pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centre, industrial facilities or gas projects. Proven experience delivering multidisciplinary mechanical projects safely, on time and within budget. Strong knowledge of QA/QC requirements, quality-management systems and regulated or high-compliance environments. Demonstrable experience managing mechanical commissioning, project turnover and handover activities. Strong capabilities in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management and change management. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, contractors and subcontractors, preferably within live operational environments. Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including forecasting, cost reporting and performance monitoring. Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment. A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality standards. Candidates must already be eligible to work in Ireland and across the EU.
