Overview

Mechanical Engineering Placement - Rotating Equipment at Little Barford and Didcot, UK. 13 month placement starting in June 2026 with one of the UK's largest energy producers. Our Rotating Equipment Team is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills.

RWE Generation's Engineering and Outage (E&O) group supports our portfolio of gas-fired power stations across Europe. The Rotating Equipment team is responsible for the technical engineering strategy, performance and risk management for gas turbines and steam turbines within the RWE gas division portfolio. A placement with the Rotating Equipment team will allow you to work within this dynamic and international group of engineers, and will be based either at RWE's UK head office in Swindon or at one of RWE's UK power station sites. You will also have opportunities to support the rest of the fleet remotely, and will have benefit from being able to visit and work at sites other than your base location.

During your placement, you will:

  • Work alongside Mechanical Engineers to resolve real engineering problems that directly affect the portfolio.
  • Undertake data analysis to diagnose problems to help in both long and short term projects.
  • Gain important on-site experience and valuable hands-on practical skills.
  • Enjoy using your problem solving and teamworking skills to successfully deliver your responsibilities.
  • Attend courses, workshops and on the job training for your personal development

You may also have the opportunity to spend time with other disciplines, such as shift work with our operations section, taking on the day-to-day challenges that come with operating a power station.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Ideally, you should be studying a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering degree at an undergraduate level.
  • If your degree is in a similar Engineering, Maths or Science discipline and you have an interest in the energy industry, we'd love to hear from you!

The Assessment Centre will take place on Thursday 27th November 2025 face to face in Swindon at RWE UK Head Office.

Accommodation will be booked on your behalf and travel subsidised by RWE. The evening prior to the Assessment Centre a meal will be held in Swindon of which you will be required to attend.
