What You'll Be Doing Year 1 - Full-Time College You'll begin your journey by building strong technical foundations through full-time study at college. This includes key mechanical engineering principles, health & safety, and workshop skills-all designed to prepare you for real-world engineering challenges. Years 2-4 - Become Part of the Engineering Team From year two, you'll be based on site, working alongside experienced engineers to develop your practical skills. You'll gain confidence as you: Monitor and maintain plant equipment to ensure smooth and safe operations Work to a preventative maintenance schedule , helping keep equipment reliable and efficient Respond quickly to breakdowns , learning how to diagnose faults and get machinery back up and running Support improvements and modifications , including manufacturing or adapting parts to enhance production performance Learn how engineering supports the entire manufacturing process This hands-on experience will give you a deep understanding of how a modern production plant operates-and the essential role engineers play every day.
