Mechanical Engineer

A Mechanical Engineer is required to support plant maintenance activities and deliver large-scale improvement projects within a heavy industrial environment. The role involves ownership of specific process areas while driving reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the site.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team
• Ownership of a defined plant process area
• Ensuring preventative and predictive maintenance activities are executed effectively
• Planning and coordinating major shutdowns and overhauls
• Managing contractors across maintenance and project-based activities
• Improving plant availability through troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues
• Driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance
• Scoping and developing projects that enhance operational and financial performance
• Supporting full project lifecycle from construction through to installation
• Leading commissioning activities and ensuring smooth handover to operations

Requirements

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety practices within a heavy industrial environment
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven technical capability with solid commercial awareness
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
• High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
• Demonstrated track record of delivering value and contributing to operational performance
