Job Description
Mechanical Engineer About the OpportunityWe're partnering with a highly respected, technology-driven engineering organisation. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their Great Yarmouth team with the appointment of a Mechanical Engineer.Working within a clean-room environment, you'll collaborate closely with Design, Production and Process Engineering teams to deliver high-precision jigs, fixtures and laser-processing tooling that support complex, high-integrity products.The RoleKey responsibilities include:
  • Designing jigs, fixtures, nests, alignment systems and handling tools for microelectronic assembly
  • Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and technical drawing packs using SolidWorks, Creo or similar CAD software
  • Developing tooling solutions compatible with clean-room and ESD-controlled environments
  • Designing specialist tooling for laser processing, including alignment, clamping and thermal management solutions
  • Collaborating with Production Engineering to resolve bottlenecks and improve throughput and yield
  • Supporting first-article builds, process validation and troubleshooting activities
  • Defining manufacturing requirements for machined, 3D-printed and laser-cut components
  • Working with suppliers to deliver compliant, cost-effective tooling solutions
This is a hands-on engineering role where your designs will directly influence manufacturing performance and product quality.About YouWe're looking for:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Strong CAD capability (SolidWorks, Creo or similar)
  • Experience designing high-precision tooling or fixtures
  • Understanding of precision machining and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of materials suitable for clean-room and ESD environments
  • Awareness of laser processing constraints (alignment, fixturing, thermal considerations)
  • A collaborative approach, working effectively with cross-functional teams
Desirable experience includes:
  • Basic FEA (static and/or thermal)
  • Familiarity with automated or semi-automated tooling
  • Experience with vacuum systems, optics or micro-mechanical integration
  • Understanding of aerospace compliance standards
