Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Sheffield Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum Type: Permanent

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Sheffield. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of industrial projects, taking designs from concept through to detailed engineering and manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and industrial machinery using SolidWorks.
• Produce detailed 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models.
• Design sheet metal components and welded fabrications to manufacturing standards.
• Support projects from concept through to manufacture and delivery.
• Liaise with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Generate BOMs and technical documentation.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong experience using SolidWorks (essential).
• Background in mechanical design within industrial machinery, fabrication, or similar environments.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Mechanical Design.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Product Design Engineering, or similar.
