Mechanical Design Engineer

An established UK-based engineering and manufacturing organisation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing R&D team based in Witney, Oxfordshire. This is a newly created role due to continued business growth and offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative products used in global markets.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work as part of a collaborative engineering team, contributing to both existing and new research and development projects. The role is hands-on and varied, involving product design, testing, and development from concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design of new products and redesign of existing products

• Building and testing products throughout the design lifecycle

• Recording and reporting test results, including conclusions and next steps

• Producing bills of materials (BOMs)

• Working closely with other engineering team members to ensure project objectives are met

• Engineering degree required (mechanical, electrical, or product design preferred)

• Relevant experience in product development

• R&D engineering experience desirable

• Experience using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)

• Ability to read engineering drawings and carry out product testing

• Strong organisational, communication, and project management skills

• Able to work autonomously and use initiative, with clear and concise reporting

• Flexible, cooperative approach to teamwork
