Mechanical Design Engineer

Location : Dundee, UK Support new and existing media handling products from a mechanical perspective Evaluate different technologies and provide recommendations with backup analysis Gain experience in the Design of Mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacture Delivering cost effective designs to specification and engineering standards Supplier engagement and change management Collaborate with Engineers from different disciplines Hold design reviews, stress analysis, assembly tolerances, testing and problem correction CLCA Release work products using the approved system with all relevant documentation required to implement your design change Working understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies. Minimum of 2 years post-graduate related experience Technology awareness in the areas of: + High speed, document feeding, transportation, sorting & stacking mechanisms. + Autonomous, fault tolerant systems under the impact of climatic variations. + Simulation/ FEA Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment Strives to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator Working CAD experience (ProE/Creo or Solidworks) An understanding of mechanical drive systems Understanding of plastic moulding, sheet metal fabrication design, parts manufacture and tooling. Drawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experience Stress and Tolerance analysis experience Mechanism design experience is an advantage Experience with assemblies containing PCBs/harnesses is an advantage.
