The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing robust, cost-effective mechanical solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to bring designs from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities include:

• Interpreting customer requirements to define and develop mechanical specifications for loadbank systems
• Creating detailed 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, with a focus on sheet metal design
• Selecting appropriate components and specifications, considering compliance, cost, and availability
• Structuring and managing CAD data within PDM systems in line with company standards
• Collaborating with Electrical and Systems Engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, safe, and commercially viable
• Supporting and liaising with key suppliers and manufacturing partners, including guidance on products incorporating electrical elements
• Tackling complex design and manufacturing challenges as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
• Presenting design concepts to stakeholders and working with suppliers to develop prototypes and test samples
• Producing comprehensive mechanical design documentation, including layout drawings and engineering calculations
• Resolving design issues identified during fabrication, production, testing, or in-service operation
• Ensuring designs are completed, reviewed, and released in line with project deadlines and business objectives

About You

• Proficient in SolidWorks; experience with PDM systems and FEA is advantageous
• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective communicator and team player, capable of presenting complex technical concepts clearly
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications
• Familiar with Bill of Materials (BOM) structures and life cycle management
