Band 5 - Maternity Business Intelligence (BI) Information Analyst

37.5 hours per week

Are you passionate about improving maternity and neonatal services through data driven insights? This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic maternity team as a Maternity Business Intelligence (BI) Information Analyst.

In this role, you will be at the heart of driving compliance with national maternity standards by ensuring the accuracy and quality of data that underpins critical performance metrics. Your work will directly contribute to improving safety, personalisation, and equity of care for women, birthing people, and their families.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual with strong IT skills, experience in data analysis, and a passion for healthcare improvement. This 12-month fixed term post offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with clinical and administrative teams, analyse data to inform service improvement, and support key national initiatives in maternity care.

Main duties of the job

The Maternity BI Information Analyst will play a critical role in driving data quality, analysis, and reporting for maternity services, with a specific focus on Maternity data, the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS), Saving Babies Lives data and the Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS). The post holder will support compliance with national standards by ensuring accurate data collection, auditing, and dissemination across local, regional, and national reporting frameworks.

The role involves collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to ensure high-quality data that informs decision making, supports performance management, and enhances service delivery. The analyst will lead on data systems management, implement effective quality assurance processes, and prepare data for comprehensive reporting for key stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous development and learning
  • Demonstrable experience in data analysis and data validation
  • Experience in healthcare data systems (e.g., Cerner, BadgerNet,)
  • Demonstrable experience in quality assurance
  • Familiarity with audit processes in healthcare settings
  • Experience of Information Governance
  • Advanced IT skills including presentations and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, databases, and reporting tools
  • Understanding of national maternity service policies and standards
