Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking an enthusiastic and goal-oriented Market Segment Manager for Complex Disease to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will define and lead the global strategic marketing plan for the complex disease segment, driving growth by increasing the adoption of Oxford Nanopore's sequencing solutions among human genetics researchers worldwide. This role involves crafting our positioning across the genomic continuum-from genetic epidemiology and risk prediction in large cohorts to clinical research applications for monogenic and familial disease forms.

This role involves owning segment strategy development, commercial enablement, market activation, and go-to-market planning, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and long-term growth priorities. This individual will partner closely with sales teams to deliver commercial activation programs, develop training and enablement tools, and create high-impact marketing assets that support customer engagement and deal progression. Other responsibilities include developing key customer relationships, and guiding initiatives that transform the complex disease segment into a major value driver for the company. The ideal candidate combines deep scientific expertise with proven marketing leadership and a strong researcher network in at least one domain: genetics of neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric genetics, or cardiovascular genetics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of market strategies and initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in genetic epidemiology, complex diseases, and genome-wide association studies, contributing to content generation, presentations, and events as well as serving as an internal expert for the internal teams such as business development, corporate marketing and product management.
  • Commercial enablement: Deeply collaborate with commercial team leaders to provide the sales team with insights and strategies that drive sales activation and revenue growth in the complex disease and large cohort market segment. Provide training for internal teams including sales, TS/FAS
Develop and maintain global segment strategy
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competition to strengthen our position in complex disease markets, from large scale epidemiology initiatives to translational disease-focus multiomic research.
  • Collaborate with product management and other internal teams to leverage technical insights on upcoming capabilities and evaluate, prioritise, and develop solutions for new or existing applications in key market segments.
Market activation
  • By driving go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new product launches, including pre-launch, cross-functional with product marketing, product management, application and sample tech to ensure relevant of benchmarking and supporting material and post-launch review and full activation.
  • Build and maintain key customer relationships with researchers, scientific consortia, large cohort leaders, and industry partners, ensuring their needs are met and identifying opportunities for collaboration and develop success stories accelerating the uptake of our technology.
  • Collaborate with the broader Marketing Team to understand customer needs and behaviours, in order to develop messaging for the target audience, for marketing campaigns.
What we're looking for

The individual selected for this position should work in a growing Strategic Marketing team that focuses on the Human Disease Portfolio and should display the following experience:

  • Science degree and several years' marketing, commercial or sales experience in genomics/sequencing. Preferred: MSc, Ph.D (or equivalent experience), plus technical experience either in research or commercial roles (for example, product management or FAS or previous market segment role)
  • Proven understanding of the complex disease audience, their goals and challenges across the genomic continuum, as well as networks and scientific consortia
  • Solid understanding of approaches, methods, workflows and products across the continuum of genetic analysis of complex disease (from variant discovery to variant function and implementation of testing for monogenic forms) and trends in this space, including methods outside of NGS like for example micro-arrays. The successful candidate must be familiar with key concepts for precision health in complex diseases, including but not limited to PRS, MRS, impact of variants to function.
  • Development of sales tools and product positioning, including compelling presentation skills, for the complex disease market and products as well as experience with sales team training and objection management.
  • Ability to successfully segment the market and position Oxford Nanopore Technologies value drivers to support the customer journey through cross functional collaboration with Product Marketing and the Marketing Operations team.
  • Skillful collaboration with internal and external teams to define and deliver end-to-end solutions. This may include defining market and product requirements facilitated by engaging with key opinion leaders, identifying techniques and applications, product gaps, and strategic market opportunities to support the segment strategy. There will be close collaboration with Emerging Technology team within Strategic Marketing as well Product Management.
  • Deep knowledge of genomic technologies, research applications, and how ONT can uniquely address the needs of research scientists around the world in the life science research tools market, as well as longer term future clinical diagnostics' potential.
  • Effectively communicate and present to technical and senior/executive audiences
  • Subject matter expertise in complex disease specifically neurology preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, including some international travel
