DNV Marine and Offshore Namibia is seeking a Maritime Surveyor to join our new office in Walvis-Bay, Namibia.
The activities encompass surveys for Maritime Classification of Ship and Mobile Offshore Units, Maritime Statutory, Certification and Verification of Materials and Components, audits of Maritime Management Systems and Approval of Service Suppliers for the maritime and offshore sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within DNV the world leading Classification Society. You will play a key role in safeguarding life, property and environment in the rapidly evolving Namibian maritime sector. The position will report to the Country Manager Namibia which forms part of Region Area Middle East and Africa.

Key Management responsibilities:

  • Fleet in Service (FiS) Ship Surveys in particular; Offshore Support Vessels, Offshore Construction Vessels, Container Vessels, Bulk Carriers and Tankers.
  • Fleet in Service (FiS) Offshore Class Surveys in particular; Drillships and Floating Production Units would be an advantage.
  • Certification and Verification of Material and Components (CMC/VMC) surveys and project management in particular; at manufacturers/fabricators sites and at delivery sites.
  • Safety Management Systems Audits (office and vessels); ISM/ISPS/MLC.
  • Approval Of Service Suppliers audits - initial and renewal
  • Maintain established good customer service.

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical /Marine or Naval Architecture or equivalent Marine Qualifications as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience within the Maritime Industry in senior management position.
  • Experience with an IACS Classification Society would be an advantage.
  • Goal and solution-oriented mindset with self-motivation, with a proactive, resilient and "can do" attitude.
  • Able to work under pressure, independently and as a global team player within the rest of Area Africa as the work dictates with high professional integrity.
  • Travel to other parts of Africa may occasionally be required.
  • Adaptable and flexible to client's schedule to meet their needs.
  • Fluent in English (preferred).
  • Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: Climbing pilot ladders & in/out of tanks and confined spaces; crew boat launches in various local climate conditions.
