Job Description

VANRATH are delighted to be assisting a leading Services company with the recruitment of a Production Manager.

This position is based in the company's Newtownabbey (Mallusk) office. Monday - Friday position. Working hours are

8am - 4:45pm or 8:30 - 5:15pm, Monday to Thursday,

8.15am - 2.45pm, Friday

Salary

Main Purpose

Lead the operational performance of Plumbing & Drainage production units, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost effective manufacturing that meets quality, delivery, and business objectives. Drive continuous improvement, optimise resources, and build a high performing, engaged team.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily production operations, ensuring output meets quality and delivery targets.
  • Plan and schedule production in collaboration with Planning to optimise resources and sequencing.
  • Monitor machine performance, support preventative maintenance, and minimise downtime.
  • Track and improve KPIs for safety, quality, cost, waste, and delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and compliance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead business improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise workflow.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and synergy across production units.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
People Leadership
  • Ensure workforce is resourced, trained, and competent to meet operational demands.
  • Provide clear communication, direction, and feedback.
  • Develop talent, drive engagement, support flexible working, and manage performance.
  • Address employee relations issues in line with policies and legislation.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Technical teams to resolve issues and improve consistency.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Finance & Cost Control
  • Manage operational and material costs within budget.
  • Oversee stock management of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Monitor variances between planned and actual production.
Reporting & Communication
  • Provide weekly updates on production, workforce, and operational performance.
  • Prepare monthly reports for senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, scrap, training, and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with support functions (Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, HR, H&S, Technical, Commercial) to ensure smooth operations.
The Ideal Person
  • Minimum 5 years' management experience in manufacturing.
  • Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing tools (5S, 5WHY, SMED).
  • Strong understanding of materials management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven experience in developing staff and achieving departmental and business objectives.
