Overview 
GRADUATE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Westlakes Engineering Ltd are an engineering consultancy practice and Employee-Owned Trust, providing Civil, Structural, Nuclear, Geo-Environmental and Attraction Safety services from offices in Whitehaven, Manchester, and Preston.
We are currently seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our team in our Manchester Northern Quarter office.
Hours:9am to 5pm (5 days a week)
Terms:Permanent
Responsibilities- The design of buildings for a wide range of commercial, residential, leisure and industrial projects at sites all over the country
- Preparing calculations from feasibility through to detailed design and construction level both by hand and using software such as Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer
- Assisting with, or carrying out, site inspections and surveys
- Working in a team with experienced engineers and technicians
- Attending design team meetings and co-ordinating design work with other professionals including Architects, M&E Engineers as well as our own in-house civils team
- This is a full-time, permanent position based in our office in Manchester's Northern Quarter.
- Master's degree in civil or Structural Engineering, at 2.1 or above on an ICE or IStructE accredited course.
- An interest in the design of the built environment
- Relevant work experience is desirable but not essential as training and support will be provided.
- A desire to progress towards Chartered Engineer Status (IStructE).
- Some knowledge of current design standards and industry practice.
- A basic proficiency in related IT, i.e. knowledge of MS Office packages and some experience of using software for ICE or engineering analysis, design or drawings.
