Managing Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure

Location - Banwell

Overview

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role on our Banwell Bypass project in North Somerset - a major highways scheme delivering a new 3.3km carriageway with junctions, earthworks, drainage and structures. This is a high-profile project that offers the chance to work closely with senior commercial and operational leaders, giving you excellent exposure and a platform to progress your career while contributing to a scheme that will transform local connectivity.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead commercial management of the project, acting as Project Commercial Lead
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontract documentation, terms, prices, and programmes
  • Manage subcontract packages, including valuations, change control, and payments
  • Produce and issue all contractual notices and manage compensation events
  • Prepare and agree monthly applications, CVRs, cost plans, and detailed financial reports
  • Monitor, forecast, and control project expenditure, liabilities, and risks in collaboration with the Project Manager
  • Ensure accurate site records and attend progress and risk meetings with clients and subcontractors
  • Provide leadership, support, and development to the commercial team
  • Contribute contractual expertise to estimating and bid teams to maximise value and profit
About you
  • Broad commercial expertise with strong knowledge of contracts and construction processes
  • Advanced IT skills (Excel, Word, CEMAR, Oracle) and the ability to deliver results on time
  • Excellent communicator with proven stakeholder management, negotiation, and account settlement experience
