Join us as a Managing Legal Counsel

What you'll do

What you'll do

As a Managing Legal Counsel, you'll be managing and coordinating the delivery of legal advice and support to our Depositary Services businesses in the UK and Luxembourg. You'll make sure that your advice is accurate, readily understandable to non-lawyers, delivered at the right time, and remains commercial while minimising legal risks.

Your role will involve working closely with advisers and stakeholders in leading the successful delivery of Depositary Services projects. You'll ensure that the delivery of the communication of legal advice on these projects is delivered to stakeholders on time.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Striving for continuous improvement in the operating practices and processes, including identifying efficiencies, improvements and opportunities to reduce costs
  • Managing legal costs through the use of e-billing, auctions and other tools, and driving a culture of disciplined cost management and controls
  • Attaining high performance standards with a focus on development opportunities and proactive succession planning
The skills you’ll need

To join us in this role, you'll need to be a qualified solicitor with strong leadership skills and Funds experience covering UCITS and AIFs and the legal and regulatory framework within which they operate.

You'll have expertise in providing legal and commercial advice and be able to draw on your experience of working with law firms and other professional advisers.

An in-depth knowledge of UK authorised Funds is key and staying up-to-date with relevant market developments will be crucial to your role, so you should have solid industry knowledge of the legal and regulatory issues currently facing the asset management sector.

We'll also be looking for you to demonstrate:

  • Good knowledge of the financial services industry generally
  • The ability to recognise issues of strategic, legal or reputational importance and assess how they should be resolved
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • The ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships, especially with senior colleagues
