Hays Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Group Management Accountant to support a high-performing finance function. This role is ideal for a newly or recently qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career.
Role OverviewThis position offers a broad scope of responsibilities across financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement. You'll play a key role in producing accurate management accounts, supporting internal stakeholders, and driving efficiencies across financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts to ensure integrity.
- Provide financial support and guidance to internal teams, becoming a trusted advisor.
- Refine and enhance financial processes and controls to ensure best practice.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including VAT returns and statutory filings.
- Analyse P&L performance and reconcile results to relevant accounting standards.
- Identify and resolve system or process issues to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Highlight opportunities for cost reduction and financial optimisation.
- Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external parties.

- Independently manage workload across areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate on key objectives and results with senior leadership.
- Recommend improvements to systems and processes for greater efficiency.
- Ensure accuracy of financial information across all reporting areas.

- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Suitable for a first or second post-qualification role.
- Strong experience in accounting and management accounts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in financial systems and software.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and collaborative team player.
- Member of a recognised accountancy body.
