About the role
As an Underwriter in the Major Accounts Property team, you will work with high-profile clients with insurable assets exceeding $1bn. You will partner directly with Brokers and Clients to identify risks, reduce exposure, and ensure access to AIG's core value proposition.
How you will make an impact- Contribute to the strategic development of our Major Accounts Multinational portfolio; build visibility with brokers and clients; drive the client service process.
- Develop and lead broker relationships, establishing pipelines and cross-selling opportunities across AIG.
- Collaborate cross-functionally within AIG to achieve corporate objectives.
- Mentor and coach less experienced Underwriters.
- Identify and develop client-focused products and strategies, including Reinsurance where appropriate.
- Support continuous improvement by enhancing processes and encouraging initiative and responsibility.
- Adhere to decision-making standards, authorities, and underwriting guidelines.
- Construct policy wordings to find suitable solutions for AIG and clients.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, team development, and knowledge sharing.
- Support special projects, broker initiatives, product development, and portfolio management.
- Maintain service standards with brokers and colleagues.
- Prioritize workload effectively and use initiative for internal and external issues.
- Ensure underwriting quality reviews are satisfactory.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive property underwriting experience with technical insurance knowledge, especially in the Major Accounts sector.
- Proven ability to lead negotiations with clients and brokers.
- Strong client management skills.
- Ability to understand and construct complex policy wordings.
- Experience with Multinational and Captive programmes and understanding regulatory environments.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; ACII is an advantage.
- Strong technical insurance knowledge, especially in large account underwriting in the Multinational sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with brokers and clients.
- Experience in implementing strategic business plans and delivering profitable returns.
- Good organizational skills and numeracy.
- Proficiency in IT packages.
