As a Maintenance Team Member at Milford Hall Hotel, you'll ensure our facilities remain safe, efficient, and welcoming for both guests and colleagues. From fixing faults and responding to urgent issues, to carrying out planned maintenance, you'll play a key part in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Objectives of this role:
  • Maintain the safety, functionality, and appearance of hotel facilities.
  • Complete repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely and effective manner
  • Respond to guest and staff requests professionally and promptly.
  • Support the hotel's compliance with health, safety, and statutory standards.
  • Carry out routine inspections and proactive maintenance to prevent issues.

  • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff with a helpful attitude.
  • Work collaboratively with housekeeping and other departments.
  • Communicate clearly about progress, tasks, and safety concerns.
  • Support a positive team environment through reliability and flexibility.

  • Provide technical advice when appropriate to team members.

Quality
  • Complete routine and ad-hoc repairs across hotel facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
  • Conduct regular checks on building systems to ensure smooth operation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in maintenance areas and workshops.
  • Keep records of work completed, inspections, and recurring issues.
  • Ensure the external areas of the hotel are tidy, clean, and well-kept.
  • Follow checklists and schedules for preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure guest disruptions are kept to a minimum during repair work.
Profit
  • Proactively identify issues early to reduce costly repairs.
  • Use materials and tools responsibly to avoid unnecessary waste.
  • Ensure all hotel equipment and utilities are running efficiently.
  • Monitor stock levels of maintenance supplies and report low items.
  • Help extend the lifespan of fixtures and equipment through proper care.
  • Support energy-saving initiatives and cost-effective practices.
  • Help avoid service downtime or room out-of-order issues through fast response.
Responsible Business
  • Follow all health & safety, fire safety, and manual handling procedures.
  • Maintain safe working practices and use PPE where required.
  • Report and document hazards or safety risks without delay.
  • Adhere to legal regulations and hotel policies regarding building safety.
  • Protect guest privacy and hotel property during maintenance work.
  • Support sustainability efforts such as recycling or energy conservation.
  • Comply with Brightstar's Responsible Business commitments.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards including any hotel-specific brand standards.
  • Complete all E-learning and mandatory training within required timeframes.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Good technical knowledge in general maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrics, HVAC, basic carpentry, etc.).
  • Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Flexible and team-focused attitude.
  • Attention to detail and high safety standards.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role (preferred).
  • Relevant trade certifications (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing) (preferred).
  • Knowledge of health & safety procedures and building regulations (preferred).
