The National Maternity Hospital on Dublin's Holles Street was established in 1894 and celebrated its centenary in 1994. Employing approximately 820 people, it is the largest maternity hospital in the State and one of Europe's largest. The hospital primarily provides obstetric, gynaecology and neonatal services.

The Facilities Engineering Department provides Design, Maintenance, Construction, Engineering and Environmental Management Services to the National Maternity Hospital. The FED is led by the Facilities Engineering Manager and includes team leaders in Design, Construction, Maintenance and Environmental roles. The department comprises Professional, Technical, Craft Workers and Administration staff.
The candidate will be part of the FED team, working closely with maintenance and design teams with a hands on approach and will deputise for the Engineering Services from time to time.
The post holder will have a clear and demonstrable understanding of engineering building services from construction to operation, an understanding of H&S Systems of work and IPC in a healthcare setting, and will possess caring and empathetic qualities.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for expenditure made by the department.
- Assign budgets for minor capital works and responsible for procurement and execution.
- Maintain and repair all buildings and building services.
- Maintain and repair windows, ceilings, doors, walls, boundary walls, fences, roadways, footpaths, grounds and site services.
