Mechanical Maintenance Plant Fitter

Location: Tendley Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Cockermouth, Cumbria.

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter who enjoys troubleshooting problems, tackling breakdowns, and keeping heavy plant running at its best. This role involves maintaining critical plant equipment, improving reliability, and helping keep operations safe and efficient.

What You'll Be Doing

• Diagnose faults and carry out planned and reactive maintenance
• Respond to breakdowns and deliver effective repair solutions
• Complete welding, fabrication, and general mechanical fitting tasks
• Support plant improvement projects and reliability initiatives
• Work safely, following risk assessments and company procedures
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system

What We're Looking For

• Strong mechanical maintenance background within quarrying, manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, aggregates or a similar environment
• Experience working on conveyors, crushers, vibrating screens, gearboxes, motors, pumps or related plant equipment
• Strong fault finding and problem solving skills
• Experience carrying out breakdown and preventative maintenance activities
• Good IT skills and confidence using maintenance systems
• A recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship
• ONC/HNC qualifications (desirable but not essential)
• Strong commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement
