Maintenance Operative

Job Summary

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Maintenance Operative at Braintree Mews Care Home. The role focuses on ensuring the building and grounds remain well maintained, performing routine maintenance tasks, managing service checks, and applying basic fixes to equipment and systems. The position supports new residents, performs general repairs, and participates in an on call rota for out of hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building tasks inside and outside the Home.
• Support new residents in arranging their rooms.
• Ensure routine re decoration is undertaken to maintain high standards.
• Advise on the supply and quality of maintenance items and ensure timely ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out of hours emergency service and participate in the on call rota.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks and basic fixes to equipment and systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in a general maintenance or handy person role, or a professional qualification in a relevant trade.
• Full driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
• Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
