As the Maintenance Manager, you will:
- Lead, coach, and motivate the engineering team to achieve high levels of engagement and performance.
- Maintain and uphold high standards for engineering workmanship, processes, and behaviours.
- Build team capability through targeted training, coaching, and development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
- Champion a proactive safety culture and embed safe systems of work.
- Oversee the delivery of the preventative maintenance plan, ensuring timely and high-quality task completion.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) practices and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Coordinate daily engineering priorities across planned, reactive, and production needs.
- Manage the engineering budget, ensuring controlled and justified spending aligned with site priorities.
- Foster collaboration between production, technical, and maintenance teams to support operational performance.
- Lead planned shutdowns, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to the required standard.
- Drive accurate and consistent use of the CMMS to support data-driven decision-making.
- Act as a change leader, embedding new systems, processes, and ways of working.
- Manage contractor activity and compliance, ensuring safe practices and high-quality delivery.
- Support the Engineering Capital Projects team to ensure maintenance considerations are integrated early in project lifecycles.
To excel in this role, you will have:
Essential Criteria:- A third-level engineering degree with 3+ years of industrial experience, OR time-served electrical/mechanical (ideally multi-skilled) with 5+ years of recent industrial experience.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving approaches.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond confidently to changing operational demands.
- Sound technical knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance, CMMS, and asset care.
- Competence in interpreting data to support sound engineering and production decisions.
- Financial awareness, with the ability to manage budgets and optimise resources.
- Experience with automation and controls, including PLC fault-finding.
- Training or certification in food safety and health & safety legislation.
- Understanding of food manufacturing compliance, including HACCP and hygienic design principles.
- Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, particularly FMCG.
- Knowledge of plant and equipment compliance for food safety, health & safety, and environmental legislation.
