Job Description

Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager with a strong mechanical and electrical background, looking for a role where you can genuinely take ownership of plant maintenance, machinery reliability, and engineering standards?

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on Maintenance Manager to join a busy manufacturing environment based near Buckingham / Tingewick. The business is well established, fast paced, and relies heavily on safe, efficient machinery and equipment to keep production running smoothly.

This role would suit a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Team Leader, or experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer who is ready to step into a more responsible role.

Location: Buckingham

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Bonus: Up to 10% depending on individual and company performance

Hours: 40 hours per week

Working pattern: Flexible daytime hours, typically 7.30am to 4.00pm, with slight adjustments possible by agreement

Job type: Full time, permanent

The Role

As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing planned and reactive maintenance across the factory, ensuring machinery, equipment, and site systems are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.

You will take responsibility for preventative maintenance schedules, breakdown response, machine repairs, contractor liaison, and continuous improvement across the maintenance function. The role is heavily mechanical, with strong electrical fault finding knowledge also required.

This is a practical, hands on Maintenance Manager role. Not one of those "sit in meetings and slowly lose the will to live" positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing planned preventative maintenance across machinery and site equipment
  • Responding to breakdowns and emergency machine failures
  • Overhauling, repairing, and improving machines and equipment
  • Ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose
  • Fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Working on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, compressors, and associated equipment
  • Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
  • Managing maintenance priorities and organising workloads effectively
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Promoting safe working practices across the site
  • Completing maintenance records and reports accurately
  • Supporting process improvements and equipment reliability
  • Carrying out or overseeing welding and fabrication work where required

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Maintenance Engineer, or Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
  • Strong background in industrial maintenance or manufacturing maintenance
  • Good mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns
  • Confident fault finding skills across plant machinery and production equipment
  • Experience with pumps, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressors
  • Knowledge of 3 phase electrics and electrical troubleshooting
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a busy production environment
  • A logical, methodical approach to problem solving
  • Computer literacy; SAP experience would be an advantage
  • PLC knowledge, such as Siemens or Mitsubishi, would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Robotics maintenance experience would also be an advantage
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship, HNC, or similar qualification would be desirable
  • You must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • A driving licence would be beneficial due to the site location

The Package

  • £45,000 per annum
  • Bonus of up to 10% depending on individual and company performance
  • 33 days holiday per annum
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible daytime hours, usually 7.30am to 4.00pm
  • Hours may be slightly amended by agreement
  • Full time, permanent role
  • Stable manufacturing environment
  • Opportunity to take real ownership of maintenance performance
