Electrically Biased Multi-Skilled Engineer- Night Shift

Location: Sittingbourne, ME10
Salary: £46,996 (including paid breaks) + weekend overtime at time and a half + call-out standby (average 1 in 8)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 22:00- 06:00

Overview

Our client is seeking an Electrically Biased Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their Engineering Team in Sittingbourne. This role is essential in supporting the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), ensuring equipment reliability, and driving continuous improvement. With a busy production environment and a variety of equipment in constant use, you'll play a key role in resolving breakdowns quickly and effectively, minimising disruption to production.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work safely and compliantly, following the company's safety principles and values.

  • Carry out physical and visual checks on equipment, undertaking a programme of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

  • Contribute to projects for production, services, and infrastructure, from concept through to successful delivery and within budget.

  • Diagnose and resolve breakdowns using Root Cause Analysis, carrying out effective repairs to prevent repeat failures across production, manufacturing, site services, and utilities plant.

  • Collaborate with Operations teams to improve equipment efficiency, building strong working relationships across Engineering, Production, and Project teams.

  • Liaise with third-party contractors to ensure works meet required standards and comply with Health & Safety policies.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working arrangements, including participation in a call-out rota, and adapt to the requirements of a 24-hour operation.

Ideally, You Will Have
  • Electrically biased multi-skilled engineering background.

  • Engineering Apprenticeship with NVQ, National Certificate, and City & Guilds qualifications.

  • Strong practical electrical and mechanical skills with experience in manufacturing environments (food or pharmaceutical industry experience desirable).

  • Familiarity with a wide range of equipment including food production machinery, packaging, sealing/labelling systems, scales, metal detection, refrigeration systems, steam generation, and site services.

  • A good understanding of Safe Systems of Work and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
