Job Description

Our modern FPSO, the Petrojarl Knarr, will be deployed to the Rosebank oil and gas field to produce and store hydrocarbons. The Rosebank development has been optimised to reduce carbon emissions and the FPSO will be prepared for future electrification. The vessel is currently undergoing life extension work, modifications for field specifics and enhanced energy efficiency.

We are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our onshore team in Aberdeen to support this project, working on the preparation and operation of the FPSO for the field.

The Maintenance Engineer, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent will be an integral part of the Rosebank Operations, Readiness and Assurance (OR&A) Team and then moving into the FPSO Onshore Operations Support team following project completion. They shall support and provide in-house ownership for all their assigned scopes during preparation phase for operations and then supporting offshore with ongoing technical support.
The Maintenance Engineer will preferably have detailed experience and knowledge of the operation ofFPSOs on the UKCS, and they shall use such knowledge and experience to assist the Rosebank project.

The Maintenance Engineer shall support the Maintenance Superintendent, including interactions with the project team, Altera technical support and Client, to ensure all mechanical and administrative duties are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.

The role is primarily onshore based, however there may be opportunities for travel to project sites and offshore locations as needed.

  • Participate in Maintenance System build and optimisation.
  • Assist in the review of SPIRs to determine critical and operational spares requirements.
  • If schedule permits visit to the FPSO, to familiarise with the equipment and crew, and then regular visits offshore during operations as / when required.
  • Provide support to the Maintenance team offshore so that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant Maintenance Management System policies and comply with all statutory requirements.
  • Support all planned and unplanned maintenance activities, regarding resources and operational requirements, which includes the scheduling of activities to suit the needs of the operation, asset shutdowns, and start-ups.
  • Critical involvement in organisation and management of Mechanical vendor scopes safety, environmental and production critical.
  • Participate in strategic work planning meetings to ensure compliance with the asset plan and budget strategy.
  • Liaise with offshore teams and apply technical knowledge to determine equipment failures and identify appropriate solutions in order to develop a repair solution for equipment such as but not limited to:
  • Lifting Appliance (Cranes, Elevators, Forklifts), Valves, HVAC, Flexible Hose Assemblies, Filtration. Boilers and Hydraulic Systems.
  • Actively participate in Independent Verifier (IV), HSE, Class and Flag surveys / audit work preparation to ensure Regulatory compliance.
  • Carry out regular reviews of current backlog work and integrate into the maintenance and planning meetings.
  • Responsible for managing the Flexible Hose Register, liaising with 3rd party contractors for inspections and ensuring the register is up to date and meeting strategic requirements.
  • Responsible for reviewing Flange Management Database and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Regular reviews of Condition Monitoring applications to predict failure modes and plan for preventative and corrective works.
  • Ensure work packs for vendors are sufficiently detailed, clearly defining the scope of work or nature of problem along with basic planning information and resourcing for input into STAR CMMS.
  • Contribute to continuous updates of control documents.
  • Input into the Maintenance budget within its boundaries.
  • Manage and complete critical Synergi actions to meet internal and Regulatory requirements.
  • Review and development of operational procedures.
  • Lead in contract and licensing development and appointment process and be contract focal point in operational phase.
  • Support turnaround planning and execution, including scope definition, job planning, and close-out reporting.
  • Support with mechanical maintenance enquiries and provide input for modifications, management of change (MoC), and project tie-ins.
  • Actively contribute to HAZOPs, HAZIDs & Risk Assessment reviews for maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
  • Technical education bachelor level or higher or HNC / HND in core discipline trade (Mechanical).
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 5years'experience in Oil and Gas industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills applied to a multi-disciplinedteams.
  • Detailed experience and knowledge of the operation ofFPSOs on the UKCS is desirable.
  • Recent relevant experience of UK project execution is an advantage.
  • Able to read interpret and apply information from drawings, reports and manuals.
  • Excellent communications ability (written and verbal) and able to set clear expectations and accountabilities.
  • Must be flexible to take on additional tasks to assist company.
  • Team player with confidence to challenge the team and be challenged.
  • Proactive with independent working skills and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and plan the workload to meet deadlines to achieve required targets.
