Maintenance Person

Location: Belfast

£14.05 - £14.40 per hour

Reed Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a Maintenance Person on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual with maintenance, building, decorating, or facilities experience to join a well-established organisation in a permanent role.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the building and surrounding facilities are maintained to a safe and high standard. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, helping to provide a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance tasks identified through planned maintenance schedules and inspection reports.
• Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues as they arise.
• Coordinate external contractors when specialist repairs are required.
• Undertake decorating and refurbishment work when needed.
• Ensure essential services such as gas, electricity, and water remain operational.
• Conduct regular health and safety inspections of buildings and grounds.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and tidy condition.
• Complete maintenance records and reporting requirements accurately.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in training and professional development activities as required.

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in a maintenance, building, decorating, caretaking, or facilities role.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices within residential or commercial buildings.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic IT skills, including email use and record keeping.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to respond effectively to maintenance issues.

Desirable

• Qualification in a building, decorating, maintenance, or trade-related discipline.
• Health & Safety certification.
• Experience working within residential accommodation, housing, or support services environments.
