Job Description
Volunteer role 
Maintenance / Gardener Volunteer at a local RSPCA branch.
Where you will be basedCommunity - working on the centre grounds and facilities.
What you will be doing- Carry out routine safety and maintenance inspections (fire alarms, fire extinguishers, fire doors, exit routes).
- Perform legionella control measures and visual inspections for leaks, damaged outlets, and submerged hoses.
- Unblock and rod drains, descend for maintenance of water systems, descale taps, and maintain proper drainage.
- Engage in interior and exterior tasks such as painting, carpentry, lawn mowing, strimming, weeding, pruning and general garden upkeep.
- Help prepare the site for open days and other events.
- Support other ad hoc events and promote the RSPCA to visitors.
- Must be 18 or over.
- Willingness to pitch in, help out, and get your hands dirty.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy items; some heavy lifting will be involved.
- Experience in a relevant trade is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided.
- Comfortable working outdoors in unpredictable weather.
- Positive attitude and teamwork.
- Meet new people and make friends in a community setting.
- Learn new skills that can be added to your CV.
- Induction and training relevant to your duties.
- Volunteer in a fun environment while making a difference to animal welfare.
- Reimbursement of agreed travel costs.
Before you can start volunteering you must complete the Health & Safety course and any other role specific training. Volunteers must be suitably protected against Tetanus; check your vaccination history with your GP and receive any required doses as part of the UK vaccination schedule.
