Working in a dedicated team of industry professionals you will provide a creative and problem-solving solution to a range of groundbreaking projects. Primarily you will assist in the development of machine vision systems, including cameras, lighting, optics, and software, for industrial applications for specialist bespoke equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious machine vision specialist to further their career within a fast-paced environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the creation and development of machine vision systems including cameras, lighting, optics, and software, based on customer requirements in line with project schedules.
  • Optimise the performance of vision systems, including speed, accuracy, and robustness, to meet the demands of high-speed industrial environments
  • Deliver machine vision control systems which comply with the appropriate national and international standards
  • Support the sales team with technical input for generation quotations for new projects.
  • Ensure electrical and control systems elements of machines comply with applicable regulations.
  • Support the project team during commissioning activities to achieve successful FAT and SAT.
  • Commissioning of the machines at the customer's site.
  • Produce project documentation such as FDS, SDS, FAT test protocols, risk assessments, training material.
  • Reporting the progress of project work to your manager.
  • Training customer employees in the use and maintenance of supplied equipment.
  • Provide technical machine vision support for existing customers.

What qualifies you for this opportunity?

  • HNC/Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Software Engineering.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience of designing and integrating machine vision systems, including cameras, lighting, optics, and software, for industrial applications
  • Optimising the performance of vision systems, including speed, accuracy, and robustness, to meet the demands of high-speed industrial environments
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues with vision systems and ensuring their proper functioning and reliability
  • Experience of developing algorithms and using specialized hardware to process images at very high speeds, enabling real-time analysis and decision-making
  • Experience with multiple brands; Cognex Vpro and Insight, Keyence
  • Experience of Implementing systems for identifying defects, imperfections, or deviations from specifications in products at high production rates
  • Ability to provide a complete vision package for simple inspection to advanced metrology
  • Ideally with some experience of Utilising AI and machine learning techniques to enhance the performance and accuracy of vision systems, especially in complex or variable scenarios
  • Experience of automation and production machinery design, ideally with a hands-on approach.
  • Knowledge of British and international standards relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems.
  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites both nationally and internationally
  • Experience of conducting assessments and generating technical documents to support compliance with the Machinery Directive and other British and international standards.
  • Sound interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work within tight timescales.
