Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking to recruit a Machine on a permanent basis.
The Job you'll do
- As Machine Shop Supervisor you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Machine Shop, ensuring output, quality and safety standards are achieved.
- This role focuses on delivering operational performance through strong leadership, effective resource management and the embedding of an SQCDP and continuous improvement culture.
- Deliver safe, efficient and high-performing Machine Shop operations.
- Achieve production targets across safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Develop and lead a capable, engaged team.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Lead daily Machine Shop activities to meet production schedules over three shifts.
- Drive SQCDP culture and lead daily performance reviews.
- Monitor and improve OEE and operational metrics.
- Ensure effective shift handovers and issue resolution.
- Work closely with Planning and Engineering to resolve production challenges.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Machine Shop team.
- Manage performance, attendance and conduct in line with company procedures.
- Identify training needs and support skills development.
- Promote accountability and a positive team culture.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, inspections and documentation requirements.
- Support process improvements, lean initiatives and problem-solving activities.
- Liaise with Production Engineering on process capability and improvements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies.
- Promote and lead a strong safety culture.
- Ensure incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented.
- Maintain safe systems of work and challenge unsafe practices.
About You
- You will have supervisory experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally within a machine shop and demonstrate strong technical knowledge of machining processes with a track record of delivering operational performance improvements.
- You will be a confident and proactive leader with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance and communicate effectively across departments.
- Experience of working with performance metrics such as OEE and SQCDP is desirable, along with knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- A strong commitment to health and safety is essential.
- A relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship would be advantageous.
