Rate: Negotiable Day Rate - Inside IR35

Working Arrangement: Full-time on-site

An East Midlands Local Authority is seeking two interim M&E Compliance Officers to strengthen their statutory compliance function and ensure safe, legally compliant operation across a diverse property portfolio. This hands-on, technical role requires an experienced professional capable of working independently, applying sound judgement, and delivering immediate value with minimal onboarding.

Key DutiesStatutory & Regulatory Compliance
  • Carry out scheduled inspections covering Legionella, asbestos, fire safety systems, emergency egress, and M&E plant
  • Identify compliance gaps, raising remedial actions through the CAFM system
  • Take immediate corrective action where life safety systems are compromised
Technical Reporting & Record Keeping
  • Produce accurate, legally robust compliance documentation
  • Maintain full data integrity within CAFM and associated compliance systems
Operational Responsibilities
  • Undertake minor technical repairs and adjustments
  • Support planned, reactive and remedial works across multiple sites
Independence & Problem-Solving
  • Operate independently across various locations, prioritising statutory deadlines
  • Diagnose issues and propose practical, safe, and compliant solutions
Communication & Collaboration
  • Provide compliance advice to site managers and stakeholders
  • Liaise with contractors and internal teams to ensure timely issue resolution
Health, Safety & Environment
  • Complete risk assessments and use PPE appropriately
  • Access roof spaces, plant rooms and other challenging environments as required
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act, Asbestos Management, and Legionella Awareness
  • Understanding of fire alarms, emergency lighting, water management, and associated safety systems
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Confident IT user across relevant systems and applications
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Flexible, proactive approach with a commitment to maintaining professional standards
