Job Description

We're supporting a leading UK organisation through a major business transformation and are seeking an experienced M&A Programme Director to play a pivotal role in a high-profile separation programme.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery and governance of technology services during a complex transition, ensuring operational continuity while supporting the successful separation of a significant business unit. You'll work across multiple technology domains, collaborating with senior stakeholders, service owners, vendors and commercial teams to deliver a structured and well-governed transition.

The Role

As the M&A Programme Director, you will establish the governance framework for transition services, oversee service delivery throughout the transition period, manage commercial obligations and coordinate exit planning to enable a successful separation

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing governance, service management processes, KPIs, SLAs, and reporting frameworks.
  • Leading the mobilisation and ongoing management of technology transition services.
  • Working closely with internal technology teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure service commitments are met.
  • Managing commercial and contractual obligations, including cost recovery and risk management.
  • Identifying and mitigating operational, commercial and delivery risks.
  • Developing and coordinating structured exit plans that support a clean separation while minimising residual costs.
  • Providing regular updates to programme leadership and governance forums.
About You

We're looking for an experienced technology leader with a strong background in M&A, business separations, or large-scale transformation programmes.

You'll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience leading technology workstreams, at Director level, within M&A, carve-outs, separations or complex transformation programmes.
  • A broad understanding of enterprise technology, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications and IT Service Management.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing service agreements, governance, and delivery against contractual commitments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
  • A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a confidential and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience within large, complex organisations.
