We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics & Supplies Driver at UCLH in our Transport Department. This role requires a dynamic individual who is able and confident to drive vehicles up to 7.5t with experience in driving within and around central London.
The role provides an essential service to keep our hospitals running 7 days a week by the delivery and collection of pharmacy and medical instruments on both scheduled and unscheduled runs daily. It also includes the delivery and collection of medical devices and equipment from patients' addresses, as well as ad hoc journey requests from the Trust. You will be supported directly by the Transport Fleet Supervisor in the first instance and should be familiar with and have working knowledge of operating vehicles with tail lifts and moving goods securely.
You should possess current experience in transport services with a clean driving licence of the appropriate class and be able to work under pressure. This is a demanding role, and you will need to be physically fit loading, unloading and moving multiple cages daily of up to 250kg. Due to the scheduled nature of the role, you will have the highest standards of timekeeping. You must be a good communicator and be able to discuss and resolve queries with the clinical and non clinical teams onsite, and with patients when collecting or delivering equipment to them.

Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications- Good standard of education (Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above) or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
- Full specialist Driving licence with C1/D1 entitlement with any penalty points disclosed (Maximum 3 points).
- Understanding of the transport of dangerous goods regulation act 1992.
- Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
- Minimum 3 years driving experience driving a Heavy Goods vehicle and holding the relevant qualifications which enable this.
- Previous demonstrable experience of working with a scheduled delivery rota.
- Previous experience of working within a driving role, ideally within a similar role.
- Experience of working in the NHS.
- Good knowledge working of delivery procedures, including complex safety instructions.
- Good local knowledge of roads and localities of areas covered by the organisation.
- Excellent knowledge of the Highway Code and driving ability.
- Able to contribute to own personal development.
- Self motivated, able to work independently, organising, and prioritising own workload to changing and often tight deadlines.
- Works effectively as part of a team, supports colleagues, and contributes to shared goals.
- Flexible in approach to the needs of the service and responsive to change.
