Yard & Logistics Operative (Class 1 HGV) required!

Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm

£17.00 - £18.50 per hour (DOE)

Our client is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard & Logistics Operative with a Class 1 HGV Licence to join their growing team in Coal island.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining yard, warehouse and logistics duties with occasional relief Class 1 driving when required. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the smooth movement of materials and finished goods throughout the business.

This position would suit someone who enjoys a practical working environment, has a strong work ethic, and is keen to become part of a busy and supportive team.

Please note this is not a full-time driving position. Most of your time will be spent supporting yard, goods-in and dispatch operations, with Class 1 driving duties undertaken on a relief basis when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving, checking and unloading incoming deliveries.
• Organising and storing stock and materials safely.
• Transporting goods between storage and production areas.
• Assisting with dispatch operations, including picking and loading customer orders.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard and warehouse environment.
• Ensuring products and materials are stored correctly.
• Supporting day-to-day warehouse and logistics activities.
• Carrying out relief Class 1 driving duties as required.
• Completing deliveries and collections when needed.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
• Working closely with warehouse, dispatch and production teams to ensure efficient operations.

What You'll Need

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence
• Driver CPC Qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach to duties and responsibilities
• Comfortable with manual handling and physical work

Desirable Skills

• Previous warehouse, yard, dispatch or logistics experience.
• Forklift licence or forklift operating experience. Training may be provided for the right candidate.
