Logistics and Supplies Manager - Timaru (Waitaki)

The Electoral Commission is looking for a highly organised and solutions-focused Logistics and Supplies Manager to join an Electorate leadership team and support the delivery of voting services for the 2026 General Election.

Supporting the Waitaki Electorate this role is based in Timaru.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and managing the end-to-end logistics that enable voting services to operate smoothly. This includes coordinating the packing, secure storage, delivery, and return of voting equipment and materials to and from voting places across the electorate.

Working closely with the Electorate Manager and other regional teams, you'll ensure every voting place has the equipment and supplies needed to deliver reliable and accessible voting services for communities across Aotearoa.

This is a 5 month fixed term role; the salary for this role ranges between $88,880 - $93,810 per annum pro rata depending on your experience delivering New Zealand General Elections and the complexity of the Electorate you will work in.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a logistics plan for the movement, storage, and distribution of voting equipment and supplies across the electorate.
  • Oversee the receiving, inventory, packing, tracking, and secure transport of voting materials to ensure all voting places are fully equipped.
  • Establish and manage the secure logistics workspace at electorate headquarters, liaise with transport providers, and ensure materials are returned and processed after the election.
  • Work with the Recruitment and Rostering Manager to recruit and support logistics staff, ensuring they have the equipment, training, and resources needed to succeed.
  • Work closely with other electorates, maintain strong communication with the Electorate Manager, manage risks proactively, and uphold political neutrality in all operations.
  • Uphold Electoral Commission policies, health and safety practices, issue issues appropriately, and contribute to a collaborative, positive team culture.
  • Support Māori voters by building a workforce that reflects the communities it serves and by engaging with iwi, hapū and Māori organisations.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in logistics, operations, supply chain coordination, or large-scale operational delivery.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex logistics and multiple moving parts.
  • Experience coordinating teams and working collaboratively across organisations or regions.
  • Confidence managing inventory, equipment, and transport logistics while maintaining accurate records.
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to identify risks and resolve issues quickly.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a regional leadership team.
  • A commitment to integrity, political neutrality, and public service.
  • A full valid New Zealand Driver's Licence.
